General Information

Meadow Cottage is a centuries old Carmarthenshire, Brecon Beacon stone building that was originally used as a byre and stables. The sympathetic conversion includes a brand new interior with beautiful solid oak doors hewn from oak on the Estate, a fully equipped kitchen with cream finished cabinetry, up to the minute appliances and beautiful traditional style Heritage bathrooms. Burnished quarter saw solid oak flooring is laid throughout the living area and bedrooms and bathrooms have ivory ceramic tile. Add superb quality beds and linens, traditional decor and the most superb view down over the valley to the distant Brecon Beacon mountains on the far horizon and you have the perfect holiday cottage.

The Management

Living Area

The Estate affords a characterful glimpse into country life and has along and fascinating past. Constructed of local stone, Meadow Cottage has been immaculately refurbished with oak timbers from the estate, Welsh slate and quarter sawn oak floors. Stable doors, an inglenook and superb views with the beautiful far-reaching views over the surrounding countryside make Meadow Cottage an idyllic holiday destination.

The living room has a large soft tan 3-seater leather sofa, leather reclining chair, rustic pine dresser, window seat, large flatscreen TV & stereo.

Memories will be of long lazy lunches or dinners in the cozy dining room, picnics & barbecues on the terrace and soaking up the unique ambiance of country living.

Kitchen

The country style kitchen has soft creamy coloured kitchen cabinets,a large white enamelled cast iron double basin sink, tall side by side American style larder fridge and freezer, a dishwasher, microwave and ceramic topped range style cooker with extractor over. It is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, small electical appliances and utensils.

The breakfast bar has been fashioned from a single large slab of Estate green oak.

Bedrooms

Two master bedroom suites both with their own bathroom solve the age old problem of who has the best bedroom. Master bedroom 1 has a magnificent 6ft wide huge king size mahogany bed, marble tops on the bedside cabinets, flatscreen TV, its own bathroom and a an armoire.

Master Bedroom 2 has a 5ft wide king size mahogany bed, flat screen TV, window seats, a walk-in closet and an en-suite bathroom.

Bathrooms

Master bathroom 1 has an extra large double ended bathtub with shower fixture, plus traditional style brass and porcelain fixtures wash basin and high cistern toilet.

Master bathroom 2 has a double shower plus traditional style brass and porcelain fixtures wash basin and high cistern toilet.

Bathroom 3 has a large marble walk in shower, 2 Victorian style washbasins and a high level cistern toilet.

Outside

From the living area, step through the stable door out onto your paved terrace with beautiful far reaching views out over to the distant mountains. The surrounding countryside, parkland and meadows are verdant and rolling, with wildflowers in the hedgerows. The little river Mynnyd flows along the estate's southern boundary down below the orchard and the Banc (hill) rises majestically behind the cottage. Climb to the top of the hill for 360 degree views out over Carmarthenshire or stroll around the level green road to soak up some of the best countryside that Wales, or in fact the United Kindom, has to offer. In the Spring wake up to huge drifts of daffodils outside your bedroom window and watch the sun rise over the hillside.

If you want to be busy, then vist waterfalls, a Roman Goldmine, country parks, lakes and moorland. Carmarthenshire’s nearby small friendly towns and villages are welcoming and hospitable. Meadow Cottage is within easy reach of the ancient Towns of Llandeilo, Llandovery and Lampeter. Llandovery has a farmers market, Llandeilo has great shopping and Lampeter is the smallest university town in the UK, with an interesting history and incidentally officially the best fish & chip shop in Wales! The Village of Salem is home to The Angel, a local pub/restaurant owned by a chef who was recently voted "Best Chef in Wales"

Coastal areas of Carmarthenshire or Pembrokeshire make a marvellous day trip and a visit to see the Red Kite Feeding Station is an exciting and rewarding way to while away a couple of hours. The Welsh Botanical Gardens, Aberglasney House, DinfawrCastle and Deer Park and the City of Cardiff are also very popular places for visitors to Carmarthenshire.
