Barley Cottage, Wheatsheaf Cottage and Meadow Barn are beautiful historic cottages with supremely comfortable beds, 400 thread count linens, fluffy white towels, fireplaces and a plentiful supply of logs. Add in lashings of hot water, lush sofas, a countryside atmosphere and sunny private terraces - you just won't want to leave! Originating in the 16th Century, these idyllic cottages are set amid the rolling hills of the County of Carmarthenshire known as “The Garden of Wales” in its lush verdant rolling landscape. The impressive parkland setting commands breathtaking far-reaching southerly views looking down over sunlit valleys and out towards the distant hazy Black Mountains. Down in the valley the wide ribbon of the River Cothi wends its way through the Towy and Cothi Valley, famous with anglers nationwide, then out towards the western tip of the magnificent Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains.
104 acres of parkland, gardens, meadows and hillside to enjoy in an idyllic position nestled into the hillside. Guests are welcome to relax in the estate's Orangery - it is a great spot to enjoy a morning cup of coffee and the newspapers or listen to a CD. In the Summer have a picnic down by the river, sitting on the mossy banks listening to the water or find a sunny spot among the ancient stand of oaks. Stroll through the meadowlands or climb the Banc (hillside) that rises behind your cottage to take in the 360 degree panoramic view of the surrounding countryside and the Brecon Beacons.
Nearby settlements include the Welsh country towns of Llandovery,Llandeilo and Lampeter with their eclectic mix of restaurants,shops, galleries & pubs and the tiny picturesque village of Cilycwm. Attractions to explore are Country Parks, a Roman gold mine, a series of spectacular waterfalls, historic houses and castles. Day trips can encompass the vibrant City of Cardiff or the dramatic coastline of Carmarthenshire and neighbouring Pembrokeshire to spend time on some of the UK's best beaches.
